How to get to Shinsekai through the right station
How to get to Shinsekai depends on where you are coming from and what you want to visit first. Ebisucho serves the Sakaisuji Line, Dobutsuen-mae serves both the Midosuji and Sakaisuji lines, and Shin-Imamiya has JR and Nankai access. For an arrival from Kansai Airport, consider the railway destination alongside the final address, rather than choosing a train by its name alone.
Tennoji is another useful arrival point, connected directly to Kansai Airport by HARUKA. If your day begins at a temple, the park or an observatory, plan that destination before the Shinsekai streets. The Tennoji cultural guide and Abeno Harukas guide help you decide how to build the day around your first stop.

Trains from Kansai Airport to Tennoji or Shin-Imamiya
JR HARUKA connects Kansai Airport directly with Tennoji. The special HARUKA One-way Ticket is for holders of a foreign passport with Temporary Visitor status. For sales from 1 November 2026, the displayed Tennoji fare is 1,600 JPY for adults aged 12 and over and 800 JPY for children aged 6 to 11. Use this as an eligible visitor product, rather than a general fare for everyone travelling on the train.
Nankai’s Kanku Tokuwari Rapi:t combination ticket includes a one-way train journey and the limited express ticket to stations including Shin-Imamiya. Regular costs 1,560 JPY for adults and 780 JPY for children; Super Seat costs 1,740 JPY and 980 JPY respectively. These are combination fares, so keep them distinct from a limited express supplement sold separately. Seat selection accompanies the express ticket purchase.

A private walk after arrival
Meet an English-speaking local guide at your Osaka hotel by arrangement for a tailored walking route; this is a city walk after arrival, with transport and attraction tickets extra.
Metro exits and the final walk
The tower operator gives a walking guideline of 3 minutes from Ebisucho exit 3 and 6 minutes from Dobutsuen-mae exit 1. For JR Shin-Imamiya, the eastern Tsutenkaku exit has a 6 minute guideline. From Nankai Shin-Imamiya’s west exit, the guideline is 10 minutes. These refer to particular exits on routes to the tower, rather than a walking promise from your hotel or any point around the station.
Dobutsuen-mae has lift routes associated with exits 1 and 5. Choose the route that fits your needs, allowing time to find the correct exit. Tennoji is the neighbouring Midosuji Line station, M23. For a guided meeting, use the exact meeting point on your reservation: a station name on its own leaves out the exit and the street level location where you need to be.
Taxi and transfer from Kansai Airport (KIX)
A road transfer can be planned from Kansai Airport, KIX, to Osaka. Specify the complete address in Shinsekai or Tennoji and agree the intended drop-off point when arranging the journey. A booking destination labelled Osaka should be matched to your particular address before you choose the ride, especially if your next activity starts at a different place from your accommodation.
Keep the airport journey and the final local walk as separate parts of your plan. Agree where the vehicle will stop and organise the onward route from there. If you are going straight to a tour meeting point, leave enough time between arrival and that appointment; choose your transfer arrangements according to the address and the needs of your party.
Reserve your transfer from Osaka Kansai Airport (KIX) to Osaka in advance on Kiwitaxi.
Tickets, ICOCA and metro day passes
At Kansai Airport, the station is reached by the connection from the terminal building. JR signage is blue and Nankai signage red. A limited express journey requires the express ticket as well as the basic train fare, unless you choose a combination product that includes both. Read the product name and destination together to keep the airport rail journey separate from later metro travel.
ICOCA is a rechargeable card used by tapping at railway gates and can also be used for shopping. It is available at the airport station; For physical card purchase, plan a payment method other than a credit card, following JR West’s purchase instructions. Osaka Metro’s Enjoy Eco Card covers one calendar day of metro and city bus travel with exceptions, including Yumeshima. It is a local day pass rather than an airport railway ticket.
After arrival: walking with a guide and parking
The private city walk on this page lasts 3 hours and includes an English-speaking local guide and a route tailored to your interests. The guide can meet you at your Osaka hotel by arrangement. This meeting starts a walking experience; any alternative transport is at your expense. Food, drinks and attraction admissions are extra. The private tours guide explains the other private walking formats.
For a self-guided visit, choose the nearest useful station for your first attraction and use the Shinsekai overview to plan what comes next. If arriving by car, Tsutenkaku has no dedicated car or bus parking; use surrounding paid car parks. Keep the parking location in mind when deciding where your visit will end, rather than assuming the tower itself provides a parking facility.
Questions about your visit
Which Ebisucho exit should I use for Tsutenkaku?
Use exit 3. The tower operator gives a walking guideline of 3 minutes from that exit.
Are the JR and Nankai Shin-Imamiya walking routes the same?
The tower’s directions use JR’s eastern Tsutenkaku exit and Nankai’s west exit. Their guidelines are 6 and 10 minutes respectively.
Is the private hotel meeting an airport transfer?
It is the start of a private city walking tour with an English-speaking guide. Arrange the airport journey separately, and budget for any transport used during the walk.
