Tsutenkaku tickets and the experience you want

Tsutenkaku stands above Shinsekai’s streets in southern Osaka. For a visit, distinguish the general observation deck, the special outdoor deck and the individual activities. The experience ticket offers separate selections, while a private Shinsekai walk includes the general deck with an English-speaking guide. Your choice changes what you do inside the tower as well as how you explore the streets around it.

Begin with the view if this is your first tower visit, or choose a specific activity when that is the purpose of your stop. The standard deck and a Slider ride have different admissions. A timed entry reservation is required for the general observation visit. For the neighbourhood around the tower, the Shinsekai overview introduces the eating streets and the other local pages.

General deck, outdoor deck and guided walk

The experience-ticket selections cover the general observation deck at 87.5 metres, the general deck together with the special outdoor deck, Dive & Walk alone, Tower Slider alone, or All-in-One. The All-in-One selection includes both decks and one participation each in Dive & Walk and Tower Slider. Match the selected admission to your intended experience; the advertised starting price belongs to an entry-level selection.

The private 1.5-hour walk begins at Ebisucho exit 3 and ends at Dobutsuen-mae. An English-speaking private guide, general-deck admission and help with photographs using your device are included. Food, drinks, outdoor-deck admission and the separate activities are extra. See private walks for the wider comparison of routes.

For an independent general-deck visit, the direct adult tariff is JPY 1,500 from age 15; children aged 5 to 14 pay JPY 800. These are the tariffs recorded on 3 November 2026. Only from 30 December 2026 to 3 January 2027, the special general-deck tariff is JPY 1,800 for adults and JPY 900 for children. Keep direct yen admission fees separate from the USD tour prices.

Architecture and rebuilding

The original tower opened in 1912 together with Luna Park. Its design combined a Parisian triumphal arch with the upper part of the Eiffel Tower. After a fire in 1943 it was dismantled. The tower you visit today is the second Tsutenkaku, opened in 1956 to a design by Naito Tachu, with local initiative and investment behind its reconstruction.

Billiken adds another strand to the story. The original American motif dates from 1908, and the tower’s third figure arrived in 2012. Touching its soles is described as a good-luck custom. Read the history and Tennoji guide to place the tower within the development of the former exhibition area rather than treating it as an unchanged building from 1912.

Adrenaline: the Slider and separate options

Tower Slider is a 60-metre enclosed slide from the third level to the basement. The operator gives a sliding time of about ten seconds. One ride costs JPY 1,100 for ages 15 to 65 and JPY 600 for ages 7 to 14; observation admission is separate. The Slider operates from 09:30 to 20:30, with final acceptance at 20:00.

Participants must be aged 7 to 65, at least 120 centimetres tall and weigh under 120 kilograms. Children aged 7 to 12 need an accompanying parent or guardian aged at least 18. Pregnant and intoxicated people are excluded, and further health exclusions and staff instructions apply. Temperature, humidity or condensation can cause an unannounced closure. Dive & Walk is a different activity with its own participation conditions.

Opening hours and access limits

The general observation deck opens from 09:00 to 21:45, with last admission at 21:15. Reserve the entry time when purchasing; pass and voucher holders obtain their time on site on the day, and evening availability can run out. Admission does not allow re-entry after leaving. Allow the tower visit its own place in the schedule rather than arriving at the last admission time with several activities still to do.

The outdoor platform is offered together with the general deck. Tembo Paradise is at 94.5 metres and TIP THE TSUTENKAKU at 92.5 metres. Outdoor access runs from 09:00 to 21:45, with last access at 21:35, and rain, strong wind or fog can close it. Stairs limit access: the operator excludes wheelchair access and access for people with relevant walking difficulties. The arrival page distinguishes the station exits for reaching the tower.
